I get a lot of good feedback on this song. XM Radio play it frequently, though I don’t know which mix, since I’m not tuned into that station.
In the early nineties, I started calling some of my remixes, the Curious Yellow Remix. I stole that name from one of my favorite novels, Vurt, written by Jeff Noon. It’s a futuristic tale of a hallucinogenic drug that spins users into other worlds.
Vurt feathers are a clever synthesis of both drugs and virtual reality, sort of like programmable acid. The feathers act as a gateway to the Vurt, a dream world that is both real and not.
In Noon’s world they tickle the back of each other’s throats with the rare yellow feather until they simultaneously enter the secret, cinematic world of Curious Yellow.
